かつて Phalaenopsis amabilis と学名で呼ばれていたこのランは、その学名の英語での発音が「台湾阿嬤（台湾のおばあちゃん）」に聞こえることから、親しみを込めて「台湾阿嬤」という愛称で呼ばれるようになりました。1897年、蘭嶼で初めて発見・採集され、1950年代には国際的なラン品評会で数々の栄冠を獲得。さらに、1960年（民国49年）発行の台湾1元硬貨にも、その気品あふれる姿が刻まれ、多くの人々に親しまれてきました。小さな島・台湾には、世界に誇る豊かな自然と、ここでしか出会えない固有の生態が息づいています。私たちは、一つひとつのプリントにその物語を織り込み、台湾の美しさを日常へ届けていきます。

Formerly known by the scientific name Phalaenopsis amabilis,this orchid earned the affectionate nickname "Taiwan Grandma" in Taiwanbecause the English pronunciation of its scientific name playfully resembles the Taiwanese phrase "Taiwan Grandma."First discovered and collected on Orchid Island (Lanyu) in 1897,it went on to become a celebrated winner at international orchid competitions during the 1950s.Its graceful silhouette was even featured on Taiwan's one-dollar coin issued in 1960,making it a familiar symbol of elegance for generations.Though Taiwan is a small island, it is home to an extraordinary diversity of native wildlife andunique ecosystems found nowhere else in the world.Through every print we create, we hope to share these stories and celebrate the beauty of Taiwan in everyday life.
